Below you will find a collection of online resources that will provide you with the most up-to-date, evidence-based information regarding your pregnancy, labour and birth, postpartum and early parenting experience. We realize that there are a lot of information sources out there, and that it can be a challenge to find one that you trust. Here are the ones that we think will provide you with the quality information you need to make decisions about your care.

Association of Ontario Midwives (AOM)

The online home for midwifery resources in Ontario. The AOM offers evidence-based information handouts on a variety of topics related to pregnancy, labour and birth, postpartum and newborn care.

Best Start Resource Centre

An online resource for parents in Ontario providing information on prenatal health, breastfeeding, and early childhood development. Most resources can be downloaded free of change and are provided in a number of different languages including English, French and Arabic.

Caring for Kids

An online resource for parents developed by the Canadian Paediatric Society. Information topics range from pregnancy and early newborn care, to childhood and teen health.

College of Midwives of Ontario (CMO)

An online resource about the regulation of midwifery practice in Ontario. This site offers information regarding the midwifery scope of practice, standards of practice, legislation and regulation.

COVID-19 Information

Access our most recent information about how CMOH is addressing COVID-19 including when to page your midwifery team, what to expect during your visit to our clinic and the hospital, and how to protect yourself. 

Hamilton Public Health

An online resource listing all public health clinics and services in the City of Hamilton supporting pregnancy, breastfeeding, parenting, smoking cessation, and sexual health.

LGBTQ Parenting Network

An online resource supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and queer parenting. The Network is a program of Sherbourne Health Centre (Toronto) providing research, training, resources, and community development across Ontario for families and health care professionals.  

McMaster University Medical Centre (Hamilton Health Sciences)

One of two obstetrical hospitals in Hamilton where clients of CMOH can choose to give birth. This site offers an overview of the labour and birth unit and a downloadable version of the Getting Ready for Childbirth and Your New Baby: A Guide for Expectant Mothers and their Families

NEW McMaster Univeristy Medical Centre Visiting Guidelines

Updated visitor information during the COVID-19 pandemic. Includes details on the number and type of visitors allowed, masking requirements, and access to the online screening tool to complete prior to entering the hospital. 

Mental Health Resources

A number of community resources exist to support mental health during pregnancy and postpartum. These online links provide a number of options for clients and families to explore depending on their needs:

OMama

An online pregnancy and parenting resource providing accurate, evidence-informed information on pregnancy, birth and early parenting for Ontario families. OMama is also available for download as an app!

Ontario Breastfeeds

An online breastfeeding resource for families looking for support with breastfeeding. Search for a number of different resources based on individual location and needs. 

Society of Obstetricians and Gyaecolgists of Canada (SOGC)

An online resource developed by the SOGC providing accurate, up-to-date information on topics related to pregnancy and sexual health.  

St Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton

One of two obstetrical hospitals in Hamilton where clients of CMOH can choose to give birth. This site offers an in-depth look at the Women’s & Infants' program, including the Birthing unit, Breastfeeding and Newborn Assessment (BANA) clinic, and Mother Baby unit. Several videos available on this site offer you a first hand look at the services available to clients and families planning to deliver at St Joe’s.
