Professional Background

Melissa holds a BHSc in Midwifery (McMaster University, 2013). In addition to providing services at CMOH, Melissa works as part of a team of midwives and doctors in the Shelter Health Network, providing maternity care to clients who access the shelter system in the Hamilton area.

Commitment to Midwifery Practice

In addition to her work as a Registered Midwife, Melissa is a sessional instructor at McMaster University, volunteering her time teaching emergency skills to students in the Midwifery Education Program. Melissa also teaches as a clinical preceptor to students in our clinic and is a mentor to our New Registrant midwives. Melissa is passionate about making maternity care easily accessible to all, regardless of socio-economic status, language, gender, ability, age or beliefs. Melissa strives to provide the highest quality of evidence based clinical care and to develop strong, trusting relationships with clients and their families.

Off Call Time

When Melissa isn’t working you’ll find her singing karaoke to 90s rock music, working out, or spoiling her fur baby, Champ. Melissa considers herself to be a foodie and quite the amateur sommelier.
